1984-2006

Every two years since 1984 West Street Potters has been holding an exhibition of the work of its members at the Farnham Maltings. In 2004 there was an additional successful exhibition at the Allen Gallery in Alton.  In 2005 we held our exhibition in our own workshop in Wrecclesham during the half-term break at the end of October. Many pots were sold and the exhibition was a great success all round.

The exhibition in 2006 was held from Saturday 28th October to Sunday 5th November and was well attended. Over 30% of the exhibits were sold during the nine days.

Examples of the work made or exhibited by our members can be seen by pressing the gallery button on this website.

We invite well-known professional potters to come to Wrecclesham to demonstrate their techniques to us. Those who have come recently include Nic Collins, Graham Ellerby, Carolyn Genders, Ian Gregory, Regina Heinz, David Jones, Peter Lane, Chris Lewis, Gareth Mason, Marcios Mattos, Jane Perryman, Jim Robison and Phil Rogers.

The Big Draw

At the same time as our own exhibition in 2005, West Street Potters hosted the Big Draw, an annual UK wide event. This too was adjudged a success and acted as a useful magnet to our own activities.

Millennium Wall

millennium tilesFor the millennium West Street Potters, with a grant from the Town Council, organised the making of a series of tiles preserving for all time the hand prints of some of the citizens of Farnham. These are now mounted on a wall in the grounds of the public library.

Barbecue & Raku Party

Finally, we cannot forget the annual barbecue and raku party, a day-long event held after the end of the summer term. sausagesThe pictures show that sausages were not the only thing successfully fired at this party
