Cookie Scottorn Demonstration – 27th April 2019
Cookie trained in Three Dimensional Design Ceramics at the West Surrey College of Art and Design in the 1970’s and subsequently ran a pottery making decorated table ware for many years.
She is currently making figurative sculpture animals, birds, human head planters, boats and subjects from myths and legends. These range from sculptures designed to work outside, especially in a garden setting, to vases and figures on a smaller scale for the home.
She works in a variety of clays: crank, porcelain, white stoneware and occasionally terracotta. Thrown, coiled and hand built, much of the decoration is pressed or sprigged using shells, fossils and found objects.
Cookie moved to North Cornwall in December 2015, near Bodmin Moor and set up a new workshop in the aptly named Potters Barn at Wenford Bridge Pottery.
