The National Trust Selborne Common Annual Lecture – Sat 15th Nov

The National Trust Selborne Common Annual Lecture

Come along to the 3rd National Trust Selborne Common Annual Lecture to be held this year at Selborne Village hall on Saturday 15th November.  A wonderful opportunity to hear our speaker for the evening Wolfgang Bopp, and the chance to meet and socialise with old friends and make new ones too!

German-born Wolfgang Bopp Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) member, Wolfgang Bopp gained work experience in various gardens including the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

He was Assistant Curator at Ness Botanic Gardens before he won acclaim as curator of the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, a £43 million lottery-funded millennium project featuring a dome designed by Sir Norman Foster. Enthusiastic and exuberant, he brought plants from all over the world, only to torch them – the Australian trees were set alight to simulate a lightning strike and brush fire.

He joined the National Botanic Garden of Wales in January 1998 as Curator of Gardens. Since it opened in 2000, the garden has been a huge success with visitors.

Wolfgang has now taken over as Director of The Sir Harold Hillier’s Gardens in Hampshire, one of the largest collections of hardy trees and shrubs in the world.

This evening will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy hearing Wolfgang speak, sharing his thoughts and ideas on plants, trees and the natural world. We look forward to seeing you all on the night.
